Graduated in 1976 from the Leningrad (St. Petersburg) State University, Faculty of Philology, Department of Slavonic Philology with the Diploma of Slavonic Philology, Interpreter of Bulgarian, Teacher of Russian language and literature. In 1987 degree Candidate of Science was awarded for the Candidate Thesis “Slavic phraseological parallels in the fiction text (on the M. Gorky’s autobiographical trilogy)” and in 1996 -Certificate of Docent (Reader). In 2004 - Defense of the Doctoral Dissertation „Slavonic Paremiology», degree of Doctor of Science was awarded in 2005, title Professor – in 2013.From 1980 permanently work at St.Petersburg State University. In 1998-2017 Chair of the Department of Slavonic Philology. Currently – Professor of this department.
More than 100 publications in Russian, English, Bulgarian, Czech languages (10 books, 16 editored books, about 70 articles in refereed journals). Lectureships and various memberships in Russia and abroad (Byelorussia, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Poland, Spain). Current member of the Editorial Board of the Czech journal indexed in Erich Plus ”Lingua Viva. Odborný časopis pro teorii a praxi vyučování cizím jazykům a češtině jako cizímu jazyku. České Budějovice“ (Czech Republic);
